Jonathan Lucroy is off a fast start this year for the Milwaukee Brewers

24-year old righty swinging catcher Jonathan Lucroy was solid for the Brewers as a rookie last year. He played in 75 games for the Brewers last year and he was 70 for 277 (.253 avg, .629 OPS) with 24 runs scored, 4 homers, 26 RBIs and 4 stolen bases. Lucroy went into spring training as the Brewers’ starting catcher but he was injured and missed the start of the year. Since he has returned to action, his bat has been on fire. Lucroy has played in 34 games for the Brewers so far this year and he is 39 for 117 (.333 avg, .891 OPS) with 15 runs scored, 5 homers and 24 RBIs. The Brewers hope that Lucroy keeps up the good work.

Lefty reliever Dan Plesac has a very solid career for the Milwaukee Brewers. His best year for the Brewers was 1989. He pitched in 52 games (0 starts) for the Brewers in 1989 and he was 3-4 with 33 saves, a 2.35 ERA and a 1.04 WHIP. Plesac pitched in 365 games (14 starts) in his 7 years with the Brewers and he was 29-37 with 133 saves, a 3.21 ERA and a 1.23 WHIP. He made 3 A.L. All-Star teams in his time with the Brewers. Plesac is the Brewers’ all-time leader in games pitched (365), saves (133) and ERA (3.21). He is also #2 in WHIP (1.23) in Brewers’ history. Many people forget just how good Dan Plesac was.

The Brewers have claimed 30-year old righty swinging infielder Josh Wilson off waivers from the Diamondbacks. Wilson played in 6 games for the Diamondbacks this year and he was 2 for 10 (.200 avg, .500 OPS) with 3 runs scored and 1 RBI. He has now played in 302 games in his first five years in the majors and he is 194 for 855 (.227 avg, .595 OPS) with 74 runs scored, 7 homers, 63 RBIs and 12 stolen bases. Wilson will serve as a backup infielder for the Brewers.

LaTroy Hawkins is rolling for the Milwaukee Brewers right now

38-year old righty reliever LaTroy Hawkins has given the Brewers’ bullpen a boost since coming off the D.L. He has pitched in 6 games (0 starts) so far in May for the Brewers and he is 0-0 with a 0.00 ERA and a 1.42 WHIP. Hawkins has now pitched in 10 games (0 starts) for the Brewers so far this year and he is 0-0 with a 1.45 ERA and a 0.93 WHIP. The Brewers’ bullpen hasn’t been a strength of the team this year, so they are glad to have Hawkins back in action.

The Milwaukee Brewers have designated Sean Green for assignment

The Brewers have designated 31-year old righty reliever Sean Green for assignment. They needed his roster spot for catcher Mike Rivera who has just been called up by the Brewers. Green pitched in 14 games (0 starts) for the Brewers earlier this year and he was 0-1 with a 5.40 ERA and a 1.71 WHIP. He also pitched in 4 games (0 starts) in AAA-ball this year and he was 0-0 with a 5.87 ERA and a 1.70 WHIP. It will be no big loss for the Brewers if another team claims Green on waivers.
