SS/CF Robin Yount is all over the record books for the Milwaukee Brewers. He won the American League MVP Award in 1982 as a shortstop and in 1989 as a centerfielder. In 1982, Yount played in 156 games in which he was 210 for 635 (.331 avg, .957 OPS) with 129 runs scored, 29 homers, 114 RBIs and 14 stolen bases. Yount also won a Silver Slugger Award, a Gold Glove Award and he made the All-Star Team in 1982. In 1989, Yount played in 160 games in which he was 195 of 614 (.318 avg, .896 OPS) with 101 runs scored, 21 homers, 103 RBIs and 19 stolen bases. He won a Silver Slugger Award in 1989. Yount only made it to 3 All-Star teams in his 20 years with the Brewers. He also won 3 Silver Slugger Awards and 1 Gold Glove. Yount played in 2,856 games in his 20 years with the Brewers and he was 3,142 of 11,008 (.285 avg, .772 OPS) with 1,632 runs scored, 251 homers, 1,406 RBIs and 271 stolen bases. Yount is the Brewers’ all-time leader in games played (2,856), hits (3,142), runs scored (1,632), doubles (583), triples (126), homers (251), RBIs (1,406) and walks (966). Yount is also #2 in Brewers’ history in stolen bases with 271. Yount played his whole major league career with the Milwaukee Brewers and he was elected into Baseball’s Hall of Fame in 1999.

Randy Wolf is looking sharp for the Milwaukee Brewers so far this year

34-year old lefty starting pitcher Randy Wolf is looking pretty crafty so far this year for the Brewers. He has pitched in 5 games (all starts) for the Brewers so far this year and he is 3-2 with a 2.64 ERA and a 1.17 WHIP. Wolf has whiffed 29 batters while only walking 8 in his first 30 2/3 innings for the Brewers as he is looking sharp. The Brewers need Wolf to keep up the good work because the N.L. Central is going to be a tight race this year.

The Milwaukee Brewers place Erick Almonte on the D.L.

The Milwaukee Brewers have placed 33-year old righty swinging IF/OF Erick Almonte on the new 7-day disabled list with a concussion. Almonte was hit in the face with a thrown ball during batting practice earlier tonight. Almonte has played in 16 games for the Brewers so far this year and he is 3 for 29 (.103 avg, .310 OPS) with 1 run scored, 1 homer and 3 RBIs. The Brewers have activated Corey Hart off the D.L. to replace Almonte on the active roster.

Prince Fielder is off to a good start for the Milwaukee Brewers

Lefty swinging 1B Prince Fielder is in his free agent walk year and he looks like he wants paid big bucks. He has played in 22 games for the Brewers so far this year and he is 29 of 84 (.345 avg, 1.004 OPS) with 13 runs scored, 3 homers and 22 RBIs. This could be Fielder’s swan song in Milwaukee as the Brewers have locked up everybody else but him to a long term deal. If the Brewers fall out of contention, I look for them to deal Fielder at the trade deadline. But for right now, everything is going good for Fielder and the Brewers couldn’t be more happy about that.

The Milwaukee Brewers place Nyjer Morgan on the D.L.

The Brewers have placed 30-year old lefty swinging Nyjer Morgan on the 15-day D.L. due to a deep thigh bruise. Morgan has played in 13 games for the Brewers so far this year and he is 10 for 22 (.455 avg, 1.227 OPS) with 3 runs scored, 2 RBIs and 1 stolen base. Morgan will likely push Carlos Gomez for the starting CF job when he gets healthy. The Brewers have called up 28-year old lefty swinging outfielder Brandon Boggs to replace Morgan on the roster. Boggs has played in 15 games so far this year in AAA-ball and he is 13 of 43 (.302 avg, 1.035 OPS) with 9 runs scored, 2 homers, 10 RBIs and 1 stolen base. He has played in 114 games in his first 3 years in the majors and he is 65 of 307 (.212 avg, .692 OPS) with 30 runs scored, 8 homers, 41 RBIs and 3 stolen bases. Boggs’ time with the Brewers will likely be short as starting RF Corey Hart is on a rehab assignment right now.
