The Brewers have signed 27-year old righty reliever Zach Segovia to a minor league deal. Segovia pitched in 44 games (0 starts) in AAA-ball last season and he was 3-2 with 4 saves, a 4.19 ERA and a 1.32 WHIP. He has also pitched in 9 games (1 start) in his major league career and he is 1-1 with a 8.22 ERA and a 1.70 WHIP. Segovia will try to win a job in the Brewers’ bullpen next spring but I wouldn’t get too excited about him as he has a small upside.

The Milwaukee Brewers claim Justin James off waivers

The Brewers have claimed 29-year old righty reliever Justin James off waivers from the Oakland A’s. James pitched in 5 games (0 starts) for the A’s last season in his first taste of the majors and he was 0-0 with a 4.50 ERA and a 2.75 WHIP. He also pitched in 28 games (0 starts) in AA+AAA-ball last year and he was 2-1 with 5 saves, a 1.83 ERA and a 1.04 WHIP. I like this move for the Brewers as they need a lot of new blood in the bullpen for 2011.

The Milwaukee Brewers hire Ron Roenicke to manage the team

Blogged under General, Front Page, Arrivals & Departures, Bloglockers by chinmusic on Wednesday 3 November 2010 at 6:00 pm

The Brewers have signed 54-year old Ron Roenicke to be the new manager of the team. He was the Angels’ bench coach from 2006-2010 as he replace Rays’ manager Joe Maddon when he left for Tampa. Roenicke also was the Angels’ 3B coach from 2000-2006 so he worked his way up to get his big chance. Look for the Brewers to be a much more aggressive team on the basepaths as Mike Scioscia loved to put pressure on opposing teams. I think Roenicke is a good fit for the Brewers.
