The Milwaukee Brewers sign 1B Scott Thorman
The Milwaukee Brewers have signed 26-year old lefty swinging 1B Scott Thorman to a minor league deal. Thorman played all of the 2008 season in AAA for the Braves appearing in 101 games in which he was 97 for 387 (.251 avg, .748 OPS) with 47 runs scored, 19 homers, 56 RBIs and 7 stolen bases. The Braves once considered him their first baseman of the future but he failed badly when they gave him a chance to prove it. He has played in 175 games in his major league career and he is 92 for 415 (.222 avg, .667 OPS) with 50 runs scored, 16 homers and 50 RBIs. Thorman is still young enough to turn things around so this was a nice low risk gamble for the Brewers to take.
