The Milwaukee Brewers decline Craig Counsell’s 2009 option
The Brewers have declined Craig Counsell’s $3.4 million option for the 2009 season. This was a smart move by the Brewers as Counsell has not played too well for them over the years. The 38-year old lefty swinging Counsell played in 110 games for the Brewers last season and he was 56 for 248 (.226 avg, .657 OPS) with 31 runs scored, 1 homer, 14 RBIs and 3 stolen bases. In three years with the Brewers, Counsell has played in 372 games in which he was 232 for 1,003 (.231 avg) with 121 runs scored, 6 homers, 61 RBIs and 24 stolen bases.
