The Milwaukee Brewers decline Geoff Jenkins option for 2008

The Brewers have decided that Geoff Jenkins was not worth the $9 million dollar option for 2008 so they declined it and have made him a free agent. Jenkins played in 132 games last season for the Brewers and he was 107 for 420 (.255 avg, .790 OPS) with 45 runs scored, 21 homers and 64 RBIs. He was pretty much a platoon player last season but he had a good run in his career with the Brewers. Jenkins played in 1,234 games as a Brewer and he was 1,221 for 4.407 (.277 avg, .843 OPS) with 661 runs scored, 212 homers and 704 RBIs. Jenkins won’t have a problem getting a new job but he will definately have to take a pay cut.
