Rookie Ryan Braun is not slowing down with the bat for the Milwaukee Brewers

You would think that pitchers would adjust to rookie Ryan Braun but he just keeps rolling along. Since the All-Star Break, Braun has played in 39 games and he is 49 for 156 (.314 avg, .987 OPS) with 23 runs scored, 13 homers and 30 RBIs. Braun has to be the favorite to win the Rookie of the Year Award in the National League right now. He has played in 79 games this season and he is 106 for 319 (.332 avg, 1.021 OPS) with 59 runs scored, 24 homers, 62 RBIs and 10 stolen bases.

The Milwaukee Brewers send Carlos Villanueva to the minors

The Brewers have sent Carlos Villanueva to the minors despite him pitching pretty decent this season. He has pitched in 53 games (1 start) this season with the Brewers and he is 6-3 with a 4.68 ERA and a 1.37 WHIP. In 82.2 innings for the Brewers this season he has allowed 75 hits, walked 38 batters and whiffed 76. Look for him to get recalled from the minors when the rosters expand on September 1st. The Brewers have recalled Seth McClung from AAA ball to replace Villanueva in the bullpen and his first game for the Brewers was a disaster as he allowed 3 hits and 2 earned runs in 2/3 of an inning.

The Brewers have designated righty reliever Chris Spurling for assignment. He has pitched in 38 games this season and he was 2-1 with a 4.91 ERA and a 1.64 WHIP. He threw 40.1 innings this season and he allowed 54 hits, walked 12 batters and whiffed 25. The Brewers have recalled outfielder Gabe Gross to replace Spurling on the roster. He has played in 56 games this season and he is 20 for 93 (.215 avg, .725 OPS) with 12 runs scored, 4 homers and 9 RBIs.

The Brewers have lost Tony Graffanino for the season with a torn ACL. He played in 86 games this season with the Brewers and he was 55 for 231 (.238 avg, .705 OPS) with 34 runs scored, 9 homers and 30 RBIs. The Brewers have recalled Rickie Weeks to replace Graffanino on the roster. Weeks has played in 75 games this season with the Brewers and he is hitting .212 (.693 OPS) with 43 runs scored, 5 homers, 19 RBIs and 10 stolen bases.

Steve Bray is pitching well in the minors for the Milwaukee Brewers

26 year old righty Steve Bray is pitching well in AAA for the Brewers this season. He has pitched in 34 games (2 starts) and he is 5-2 with 1 save, a 1.72 ERA and a 1.11 WHIP so far this season. He has thrown 57.2 innings this season and he has allowed only 42 hits, walked 22 batters and whiffed 55. Look for Bray to get a chance in September when rosters expand.
