The Milwaukee Brewers acquire Seth McClung from the Devil Rays
The Milwaukee Brewers have acquired 26 year old righty reliever Seth McClung from the Devil Rays for Grant Balfour. Seth McClung reminds me a lot Derrick Turnbow and it will be interesting to see how he works with pitching coach Mike Maddux. No one has ever questioned the arm of McClung as he brings big time heat to the plate but he doesn’t know how to pitch. McClung has pitched in 40 games in AAA this season for the D-Rays and he was 1-5 with 5 saves, a 1.99 ERA and a 1.38 WHIP. In 58.2 innings this season in the minors he has allowed 38 hits, walked 43 batters and whiffed 68. McClung has three seasons of major league experience with the Devil Rays and the results have not been pretty. He has pitched in 85 games (37 starts) for the Devil Rays and he has a 17-24 record with 6 saves, a 6.27 ERA and a 1.65 WHIP. In 251 major league innings McClung has allowed 259 hits, 40 homers, walked 155 batters and whiffed 176. Coach Maddux will have his work cut out with McClung.
The Brewers are happy to get a pitcher with McClung’s stuff for Grant Balfour who they actually had designated for assignment. Balfour pitched in 3 games for the Brewers this season and he was 0-2 with a 20.25 ERA.
I’m from St. Pete and accoring to McClung’s girlfriend, a local St. Pete bartender, Maddux WILL have his work cut out for him. Apparently he sees demons and needs medication to pitch accurately…a true head case! Good luck with McClung!
Wow, I have been following McClung since back in 05 when he was nice to my son at a spring training game. It is nice to see him get a change in teams.
Steve sounds a little out there, some one must have an agenda with Mr. McClung. Those are far out statements from someone who is just a fan. I think Mr. Carmellio must have some jealous feelings toward McClung.
I’m Seth McClung’s girlfriend from St. Petersburg, yeah the one thats’ a bartender!! Thats me and actually the real head case is Steve Camellio, as far as “my” boyfriend goes he is an awesome pitcher and has a very level head compared Steve Camillio. I regret the fact that Mr. Camillio has nothing better to do with his time. All the previous statements are false and fabricated! Brewers are very lucky to have a new, talented, young pitcher. Your loss Devil Rays! Best of luck Brewers!
Seth’s girlfreind (local St.Pete bartender)
All I can say is WOW! Apparently “Steve Camellio” has some hate towards a guys he’s never met. He needs to get his facts straight before talking…McClung is going somewhere with his life and “Camellio” must be jealous for some reason? He’s a good pitcher and great guy! GO BREWERS!!
wow. didn’t mean to cause such a riot. i was just stating something that i was told and thought was humorous. didn’t mean to get you in trouble miss bartender. i have nothing toward mcclung. he does a lot for the community. maybe he needs to get a new girlfriend who doesn’t spill his innermost secrets.
I had heard about the demon claims and just thought it was a quirky deal that someone has. Then I was at a Devil Dog’s game last year and a few fans held up a sign that said “Watch out for the Demon, McClung!” In our section we thought it was quite funny, but Seth was visibly shaken, like he was going to cry. He had stadium security tell the fan to take the sign down. But like any good Demon the fan just moved to another part of the park. There must be some validity to Mr. Camellio’s rumors. I am sure being scared of demons that you can see and no one else can would not affect his pitching. Good luck Seth, we are all rooting for you.
I had heard rumors about Seth and his thing with demos but assumed it was just a quirky pitcher thing. Then I was in attendence at a Devil Dogs game last year when some fan in our section had a sign that read “Watch Out for the Demons, McLung.” The whole section thought it was funny but did not understand what it meant. Then as the perps explained why they brought the sign this fact made its way around the section pretty quickly. As you can tell, there are not that many people in each section at a D-Dogs game. Seth was mortified and completely freaked out. He had stadium security tell the guy to take the sign down. The perp moved to a different section and kept it going. It appears that there maybe some if not a lot of validity to Mr. Camellio’s comments. Seeing demons and being freaked out about them should not affect one’s pitching though, right?
As a Devil Rays fan, not Devil Dogs (Goat Man you jerk!) and my problem with Seth was not his issues with demons but that he never worked on getting stronger and staying in shape. He was late to some pregame stuff because he was either taking a nap or playing video games. I am sure this “bartender” is a lovely lady but maybe if he spent more time in the gym than on his training and less time in the bar chatting up with beer wenches he would still be pitching in the bigs on a consistent basis.
yeah, a bartender…i thought she was really sweet until i found out she was a complete hypocrite. Though I guess if i was a bartender dating a baseball player i’d deny saying anything that would make him mad till death too because that is probably her golden ticket out of the bar life. On another note, i feel better that i’m not the only one who heard these comical rumors.
Easy on the personal attacks to the guy. It sounds like the D-Rays fans are a crude bunch. I wish McClung well on his way to the Brewers. People say poor things online any of McClungs Family or Friends especially Girl Friend shouldn’t be reading or take any thing too serious on here. People can post anonymously on here and they never have to back up there facts. Do not put much stock in these negative people they are all just hating on someone with something good in there life.
I agree with the last comment. Sounds like Mr. Camillio is a very jealous person and has a personal issue with McClung’s personal life. As for the people judging bartenders, I resent that statement, I bartended my way through college while getting an International business degree and I wouldn’t have worked anywhere else. I bet bartenders make more than Camillio does?? Just a thought. Seth McClung’s a decent guy and is involved in many charities from what I understand. Best of luck Seth! All the others… jealousy is a terrible thing! Get a Life!
this is funny. do you really think mcclungs family or friends is going to happen to stumble upon this blog the same day someone posts something about him? i think its all a joke. i don’t agree with “bashing” a player but from what is being said, i definitely don’t sense any jealousy! i see a fan making a funny comment in response to the original post. “Bashish” is saying negative comments like “he sucks.” This fan is just letting us in on something he found out that may or may not be true. I don’t know “steve” but he has been a member of this blog for a while and never “bashes” anyone. hey, if mcclung does great because of a medication, great! if he does bad, well then maybe his prescription needs to be changed. as for the demons…no comment. as for the bartender…
It has always amazed me that people like this Steve Camellio are always insisting on showing off their stupidity and lack of knowledge. They must have a very boring life and want everyone else to be as miserable as they are. It is jealousy
and nothing else. Mark my words, Seth McClung is the pitcher
to be watching this year.
I hear that exercise kills germs. But how do you get the little buggers to exercise?
